#mrsbloggsbooks – The Old You by Louise Voss @LouiseVoss1 @OrendaBooks

Oh bloody hell, what a book! Just as I thought I knew what was happening, there was a new surprise element to the story to absorb and something else added to the mystery.

A couple coping when a devastating illness affects one of them.

Secrets from the past. Secrets from each other.

You think you know someone but do you really? All is never as it seems in this book. One thing led to another which made me think ‘of course’, only to be totally wrong footed again.

Louise Voss is a new writer to me but she most definitely deserves a place in the top tier of crime fiction writers.

I understand that this type of book is now referred to as ‘domestic noir’. Well it’s certainly that.

The book was an exceptionally good enjoyable read with a totally absorbing free flowing narrative. Well plotted, planned and executed.

Finished the book by reading well into the night until my Other Half found me asleep the next morning with the book draped across me on the last page. Of course he took a photo on his phone that I’m not sharing and no-one can make me! 😉

All in all a cracking good read. Looking forward to looking for more books by this author.

With many thanks to Karen from Orenda books who very kindly sent me an ARC copy.

I enjoyed it so much that I bought a Kindle copy to read out and about.
