Oh My God! That is all I can say about the ending to this book without giving away any massive spoilers. I didn't see that one coming.
This is an easy, addictive, enjoyable read, ideal for holiday reading (I daren't suggest honeymoon or you'll be checking on the whereabouts of your spouse all the time) with a few surprising twists that were cleverly introduced and totally threw me!
Everyone wants their honeymoon to be perfect and this one on a beautiful island in the Maldives had all the ingredients of what should have been a happy idyllic time in the lives of this young couple, except that it wasn't.
Hidden tensions, old scars, secrets and lies taint this one right from the start.
The story is told in different time frames and jumps from past to present. We learn about the backstory of the bride and groom.
A few days into the honeymoon, the bridegroom goes missing and when he doesn't return there are all sorts of theories, suspects and motives for his disappearance.
I didn't like Jemma the bride but I think perhaps we're not meant to, especially as disturbing facts about her emerge during the past and present narrative. I did however feel the description of how she would have felt and been treated after the disappearance of her spouse to be an accurate one.
